At least 115 people, mostly children, fell ill from a meal offered at a political rally in Guatemala, local media reported Monday.
The opposition National Unity of Hope sponsored Sunday's rally at Esquintla south of the capital and served up ground beef, rice and drinks, the reports said.
People who attended the rally began to seek treatment at local hospitals shortly after.
Oscar Canek, director of the local public hospital, said bacteria in the meat was a likely cause but that laboratory tests would be done to confirm the culprit.
